From the Principal
Dear Roberts families and students,
My name is Laura Schlitt and it is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of Roberts Elementary. Over the last few months, I had the opportunity to be the administrative intern at Roberts and it was an amazing honor to learn about, and become a part of, this outstanding community. During that time, I have been impressed by the passion and dedication of our staff and community. I look forward to continuing to promote a love of learning for our students that extends beyond the school day. While partnering with the staff, parents, and community, I know we can provide the best educational programs and experiences for our kids.
I have been with Utica Community Schools for 18 years where I have been a teacher leader, a school improvement chair, a key member of the Utica Teacher Induction Program, and was awarded Utica’s Elementary Teacher of the Year. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and a Master of K-12 Administration from Saginaw Valley State University. I am also the mother of three wonderful daughters and have been married to my husband Erik for 12 years. Throughout my time in education, I have been working, learning, and growing and am excited to take this next step in my educational journey with you all at Roberts.
I could not be more proud to be joining the Roberts team to continue the long-standing legacy of student achievement and community partnership. I will work hard to make sure every child is cared for and safe while fostering a rigorous curriculum that will meet the needs of all diverse learners.
I wish you a safe and happy summer with some time to slow down and enjoy your families. I will be back in the office starting August 3rd so please feel free to stop in and say hello. You can also contact me at

Sincerely,
Laura Schlitt
